Any word on how the administration is going to handle review boards. Our son has a passing GPA but has failed one course in the spring tri. So far he hasn't been given any info on how this will be handled

If he has never failed a class before he will probably just have to lag it (when you take an extra class during the next tri in order to retake the class) or maybe even summer school if its a class like calculus or physics.

I'll keep your son in my prayers. Most can take a summer course. Encourage him to speak with an upperclassman or another trusting adult. Take big breaths and relax as much as you can. The process eventually works itself out.

Apparently summer school is chock full so a lag class many be his only option.
Make sure he sees his academic mentor, has a complete study log and a record of when and from whom he sought extra help should he have to go before an ARB. Yes, advice from an upperclassman or the company academic officer is good too. In the meantime, if he is going to be home for the month of July try to get him into a similar class as remediation at a local college (he should be able to audit the class but you will still have to pay for it), or get a tutor to work with him individually.
Good Luck
