Well, I'm now officially Disqualified due to Astigmatism and Asthma which plays no part in my every day life whatsoever. But regardless of that, I probably will not be a candidate for a waiver as my application was not in the same category as all the applicants I've seen on the forums, etc.

As my last hope was to join the Coast Guard reserve while in college, does anyone know if the US Coast Guard Reserve would consider this medical disqualification for DoDMERB which appears to be just for service academies as a definite DQ for reserves too?

Thanks for any of your thoughts or if you know any information. I have not seen any such question on the forums yet or maybe it's just a moot point.

To serve as a USCG Reserve Officer, you must pass an approved USCG commissioning physical.

Call your local recruiter at 1-877-NOW-USCG.

Good Luck.

Don't believe everything you have read on the Forums. If you have not already done so continue with the waiver process and submit all requested documentation. If you have a DQ submit documentation which may refute the DQ. Good Luck.

Thanks. But, according to the waiver information, I have to be a candidate that the USCGA has put as highly qualified, etc. so can I still request a waiver regardless of my application status?

As for the USCG Commissioning physical; is that considered separate from the DoDMERB physical and I should just not mention the DoDMERB?

Sorry, it's all somewhat confusing.
Thanks.

Thank you but is that considered separate from the DoDMERB physical and I should just not mention the DoDMERB?
