I am at the end of my freshman year in high school and have goals to go to the Naval Academy. However, I am posting this thread from a hospital bed as I just got admitted for an eating disorder, anorexia I guess. I found out that eating disorders are disqualifying conditions for admision. So my question is is that it for my chances? I have no doubt of my near immediae recovery from this whole deal and I have heard that there is a waiver i can obtain that would let me still be eligible for acceptance. Does anybody know if that really is a go possibility or if im getting my hopes up over nothing? thanks

ZipLocke - my heart goes out to you, and I hope that you feel better soon. I think your best bet will be to contact Larry Mullen at DoDMERB. You can find instructions on the DoDMERB section of this website. He is the one who'll give you the best advice on how to move forward. The most important thing for you to do now is to take good care of yourself. Best of luck to you! :thumb:

I appreciate your kind thoughts and advice. I found an e-mail adress and sent him my question. Thanks again!

me too?

Im sorry to post on an old thread, but I am in a similar situation. Although, I do not currently have an eating disorder, I had one 7 years ago. But since then I have been cleared by my doctors saying I am in good health. I even went to a cardiologist and they said that I am fine in that respect as well. Is there any hope for me to get accepted...anywhere? Thank you.

You should follow the same advice as was given to the OP - get in touch with Mr. Mullen. He's wonderful.
