do we have to become AOG members?

Something else we forget too is: After 2 years and commitment, most cadets opt for the "Almost Interest Free Loan" of $35,000. My son didn't need the money; had plenty saved up; had a car; etc... but took the loan anyway because it was a 1/2% interest over a 5 year period. (Paying back doesn't start until after graduation). My son took 1/3 of the money and invested it into IRA/CD's/etc... He's keeping the other 2/3 liquid for right now, but once he gets settled at his next school, he'll probably invest it if he doesn't need it.

Bottom line: There's a lot more money available than people think. Times might be tough for some and finances tight, but with an academy cadet son/daughter, life is definitely much better than most realize.
