DOBMERB still missing

My son's DOBMERB data is still not showing up on his USNA application. He completed the exams in September, the data showed up on his USMA and USAF apps in October, but it still hasn't shown up on USNA. I inquired with USNA regional rep in early November and they informed me that USNA would request the information as soon as he had 5 out of the 8 required documents on his app.

His app has been 100% complete since early November. His B&G officer states that his app is 100% per the BGIS system and he shows as academicly qualifited. Both his nominations are showing on his app too. So we are simply missing the DOBMERB.

I've tried to email the regional rep twice, and our B&G officer has also tried to email his regional contact, and we are not receiving any responses on the DOBMERB.

This is quite frustrating, does the missing dobmerb hold us up from the review board. At this point, what can we do? Should I contact the school and try to go up the chain of command to get answers?

Frustrated and at a loss what to do....

If your son has completed a DODMERB because of applications to other SAs, then it shouldn't be hard for USNA to pull that data.

I recommend you re-contacting your BGO and have him/her ask for the medical liaison on the Admission's staff. Make sure your BGO explains that the DODMERB has been completed for other SAs and it is just a matter of getting the data.

Of note, if you don't get timely email responses, then a phone call is normally appropriate.

FYI, I had two candidates who had completed enough parts of their application to be scheduled for a DODMERB, yet they hadn't been scheduled for one. I contacted the medical liaison and resolved the issue.

Reading this thread has made us wonder... DS was cleared by DODMERB weeks ago but his USNA application says "For information regarding your medical exam or status please visit the DODMERB website." Does this mean that USNA does not have his DODMERB clearance? If so what should we do?

I didn't think that it shows up on the USNA CIS. I think that if it says on the DoDMERB website that you're qualified for USNA then you are good to go. I have been cleared and it still says "For information regarding your medical status..." I just assumed that it is going to stay like that.

I applied last year for USNA and USCGA. When USNA requests your medical, you will receive a letter from DoDMERB stating that you have been found qualified for the USNA program. If you are not found qualified it will tell you what remedials you need to do and how to complete them.

USNA CIS does not post medical status, and in my experiences generally does not get involved with DoDMERB troubleshooting. In the past, I have called the DoDMERB help desk to get answers. They'll be able to tell you whether or not USNA has requested the physical.

ok, for clarification - we have been working with BGO and he has also been trying to contact the USNA regional guy he works with to find out why navy hasn't asked DOBMERB for DS' information. When we go to DOBMERB site, it shows that he is med qualified for Army and Airforce and those letters we received in Oct. But nothing on Navy. When DS has called Dobmerb, they tell him Navy hasn't requested info you. Last we heard from navy (Nov 5) they said they would send request once we had 5 of 8 documents in the required doc section, that was completed on Nov 7.

BGO tells us that BGIS has app at 100%.

We realize he's late in finishing his app. (teacher recommendation hold ups... took teachers 6 - 8 weeks to fill out recommendations, and I had to go all "momma bear" on them by going over their heads to administration so that they would finally get them in). We hate that we could be delaying things further with this holdup that is out of our control.

I've been contacting BGO on a weekly basis, and feel like I'm annoying him with asking for weekly updates.

I would definitely call the admissions office - I've found emails tend to get lost or put on the back burner, but the admissions staff has always promptly helped me on the phone.
