I received my DoDMERB applicant instructions in the mail the other day, and I read that all examinations should be completed within 6 weeks. However, I'm going to be out of the country for a month, from 24 July to 24 August. The last week of August will be the 6th week, hopefully I can schedule an appointment then. How important is it that examinations be completed within 6 weeks?

I would say more important if you are applying for ROTC. The sooner you can get your paperwork in for ROTC the more boards you can get in front of. If you are only interested in an Academy then it should not be a big deal. Make sure you ask DoDMERB if that is ok before you leave. Call their help desk listed on your paperwork. Safe travels.

I would call and make the appointment now for right after you get back. My dd called and got in 2 days later, so giving them a months heads up, you should be able to get the day you want. If you call tomorrow, you may even be able to go in on the 23rd of July and get it knocked out before you go.

I'm not sure how the system works, but I would call Concorde (DODMets) and (DODMerb) if you can't get in within 6 wks, so you aren't dropped out of the tracking system. Even if they can't get you in before the 6 wk point, I would still schedule the date ASAP and enter the date in to DODMets, so something is in the system.
