Hello once again everybody,

Today my ALO called and said that my interview today was cancelled because of the shutdown. I was expecting this, so I'm not too concerned.

However, I received my DODMERB letter on Tuesday, and had almost gotten all my online questions answered. Then tonight I logged on to finish, and it has been shutdown. I know that appointments are supposed to be scheduled within 5 days of the letter, but will this now be extended?

Finally, I am wondering as to whether the USAFA deadline for early action will be extended. I'm pretty solid, as all I need is my evaluation from my ALO and my CFA, which is already lined up. But is the admissions office even working or processing.

Thanks again to everyone on here...just so much craziness!

Part of the Admissions Office is still running and applications are being processed. Most of the USAFA Admissions counselors are still working, otherwise the entire Admissions process might break as thousands of applications stack up. Additionally, the Admissions Office has numerous military members who are still on the job.

ALO evaluations may be delayed. About a third of our ALO force are reservests and they have been affected. While our active duty ALOs are still working, they may have an additional workload if they are picking up some of the duties that furloughed AF civilians accomplished. Our civilian volunteer ALOs are still on the job.

The Bottom LIne: Continue to do what you can do. The furlough is not affecting your ability to complete what is under your control. You still have control of a significant part of the process.

Yup, my son has run into the same circumstances. He was to have his DoDmerb exam tomorrow. Got a note from the doctor this morning that everything is on hold. Sucks for us, we have to travel an hour to the exam and it worked perfectly with his half day of school. Oh well, this too shall pass, only a small bump in the road.
