Graduation high school in 2018
I have a question regarding medical waivers and the application process. I love West Point but the acceptance dates are nerve wracking. As I am a recruited athlete, I have some other colleges as possibilities to fall back on, if West Point doesn't work out for some reason. The only problem is that the dates they would require me to commit are much sooner that the usual acceptance, usually before nominations are even finished. Now, when I start my application process, Il have to do the DODMERB. I have technically been diagnosed with asthma, and have been on refill prescriptions until 14 or 15 years of age butI have never had an asthma attack, so I never used them. They were just in case. I am a swimmer, and we do extremely taxing workouts, and I have been practicing 8+ times per week for the past couple years, without a breathing problem. My question is, if I am lucky enough to get a LOA (I have a 34 act unsuperscored), but they fail me on the DODMERB, would I be able to find out about a medical waiver before I would have to commit to any other schools (early November at the latest)? Thanks in advance
Edit: I reread and my question wasn't very clear. What I am trying to ask is,
when are DODMERB results generally in, and how long do waivers usually take?
