DoDMERB before acceptance?

My son received his DoDMERB paperwork in the mail today. We had not heard anything from the academy regarding whether he was accepted or not, other than that his application is complete for Early Action II. Do they send all applicants for the medical exam prior to a conditional approval?

Yes.

p.s. this medical exam goes to everyone who completed a percentage of their application

Medical Exam

Thank you for clarifying. I was hoping that they only initiate the DoDMERB for those they are seriously considering. It seems likes a huge expense on their part before they decide if an applicant is even qualified. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

You are correct.

DODMERB is only initiated for those applicants who are competitive for appointment.

Not anymore.

It is not "automatic" as in years past (it was changed a few years ago) - the expense in "qualifying" non-competitive applicants, as stated above, is the reason.

Partially Good News

Thank you Luigi for clarifying further. That's what I thought I read or was told, perhaps when we visited the Academy. It only makes sense. I suppose it is somewhat good news that he was sent the medical paperwork. We better get started on that DoDMERB.

We send DoDMERB the names of all complete applicants who are determined to be "academically competitive" for an appointment to either the CGAS (prep school) Program or the Academy. Yes, it's a positive sign when your name is sent to DoDMERB, but applicants shouldn't read too much into it since most will reach this stage.

Objee, If an EA2 applicant whose application is to be reviewed next week has not received any DoDMERB paperwork, does this mean they are not considered "academically competitive," and thus either likely or certain to be rejected?
