DODMERB Billing questions!

So my daughter had to have some remedials. We opted to go to the imaging center that the government would pay for and ended up having to go to TN as they had no contracted imaging centers or doctors in Alabama (where we live). We went back in July 2014 & today my daughter received a bill from the imaging center that we were sent to! :unhappy:

By the way, the letter says that it is due now & it's the Final Notice before being sent to collections! (It's the only one we've even received!)

Does anyone know whom me or my DD need to contact? Has anyone else ever received a bill when the government wears supposed to pay? If so, was the issue resolved quickly?

We did go through Concorde! Thanks for giving the phone numbers! I will start there first thing Monday morning!

Should I contact the imaging center they sent my DD to and talk to them about her bill? Remind them that we were sent there by Concorde for the MRI's and let them know we are calling Concorde?

Do you know how fast Concorde will act?

I would too. For your own protection I would ask for their full name and extension. I would also jot down the time you called. The reason why is if your credit score gets dinged you have documentation from your side that you were aware and made contact with them to discuss the billing error.

I would also keep an eye on your credit score to see if it does drop and if it does contact Equifax immediately. As a realtorr I can't tell you how many times a buyer found out during the MTG process that there was some long ago medical bill that was never paid. One of my buyers got dinged for an $10 bill that was uncollected for years. They too were military, and had moved without receiving the bill, it never caught up to their new address, but it was on their credit score. It was easily rectified by writing a letter explaining the circumstances. They paid the bill and thirty days later their score jumped up to take them to A paper, giving them a better rate.

Not trying to divert the thread, just saying stay on top of your credit while you go through the process.

Should I contact DODMERB or Concorde? or Both?

I am going to be calling the imaging center this morning as well!

Concorde orders the tests - no need to bother with DODMERB on this one.

We were billed for several months by the clinic that conducted the remedial tests Concorde had arranged for my son.

Well this is the first notice that we received, but it states final notice! And it states this is the final notice we will receive before being sent to a collection agency.

That is why I am so frantic right now.

I will be calling everyone to attempt to get this resolved QUICKLY!

How long did you receive bills for? Did they threaten you as well about being sent to a collection agency? Did you have to call Concorde? Did you call the clinic that was billing you as well?

We received bills for two months. The first time I assumed it would correct itself; after the second I called Concorde to complain. I also managed to reach a sentient human being in the clinic's accounts receivable department.

This was four plus years ago, and most people have gotten stupider and lazier in the meantime - I know I have. My recent experience with a collection agency is that they use robo calls to harass you. Too bad if you don't actually owe the money.

Have your child get use to this!

When Bullet was Active Duty AF, our DD was rushed by ambulance to the hospital after being bitten by a copperhead snake. it was so serious they had to give her 5 vials of anti-venom and was in the hospital for 5 days.

We were sent bills from everyone including the ambulance ride to the CDC for the cost of the anti venom (1250 a vial), for thousands of dollars months later, saying final notice. It was the first time we had ever received a bill!

What we learned was that the military is slow to pay, and by sending it directly to us they could scare us into paying the bill and leaving us to fight with the military for reimbursement!

We did not pay! We contacted TriCare (military insurance) and the docs. As I stated before we watched closely our credit rating for months to make sure the health care providers never hit us.

Protect yourself. Take names, time, notes of what they say. If possible ask for the phone call to be recorded. I am not trying to scare you, because I believe like our situation it will work out, just saying protect your credit and medical bills can hurt your credit just as fast as being late for your MTG.

I am sure they are going to say they have it processing now and it will be fine, just ask them how long before it is processed and than contact the doc. Give them the name and ext. of the person you spoke to directly and the info they told you. You would be surprised how quickly they take you out of delinquent when they have an actual human being they can contact to get paid.

I can not get in contact with a live person at Concorde! I began calling Monday morning at approximately 0730! I have left messages for my DD old handler. I also called the main number, spoke to a lady and explained the reason for my call and she stated, "Oh, you need to speak to Noah" and she transferred me to him. Except he also didn't answer and I again left another voicemail!

So, then I started thinking, will they talk to me since I am the mother? So I instructed my DD to call and email her old handler! She has called and left messages! She still has not received a return phone call!

Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to contact a live person at Concorde?

Last year I was able to shake out the name and number of a Concorde supervisor by calling and speaking to Dodmerb.

We had run into a problem where the Concorde physician was not returning paperwork to Concorde and it seemed that Concorde was not properly addressing the situation.

Once we explained the situation to Dodmerb, Dodmerb gave me the name and number of a supervisor at Concorde who returned my call and they took care of the issue lickety-split.

It is important to remember that Dodmerb is Concorde's customer and I imagine it is a pretty big contract.

I hope this helps. Best wishes and getting it straightened out.

Any chance you can share the DoDMERB contact info? I have been dealing with Concorde and a remedial medical bill for nearly 6 months. Luckily the medical facility has been patient, but they are ready to send the bill to collections and I am having a hard time getting action out of Concorde.

I think I would send an email to the Concorde CEO. His email is below.

Who Do I Contact?

Thank you. Concorde has finally been very responsive this week, after finally copying both the CEO & CFO on emails to the account rep. I am giving them until the end of this week to hopefully get things fixed up. I just can't believe the amount of time and energy it has taken to get them to pay a bill that they are responsible for. Granted the medical facility must take some of the blame as they were to initially bill all to Concorde, but instead billed me the parent.

Just makes me understand why medical costs are so high everywhere.

Follow up to December 2014 post: I was finally able to get in touch with my DD's handler, Katrina Duvall, back in December. She asked me to scan and email the bill to her, which I did, and ASSURED me it would be paid! I kept the email until about a month ago and deleted it!!!! Today in the mail we got the bill AGAIN!!!! It's marked "FINAL NOTICE" and now I really am worried!!! I guess I will email Stephen Rosenzweig!!!

Just wanted everyone to know that while you think something maybe taken care of by Concorde, it may not be! I will keep everyone updated!

Ugh! I know all to well what a PITA this situation is. I did finally get it resolved at least both calls from Concorde and the Medical Facility have said things are settled. I guess I will keep my fingers crossed that this won't happen to me. The only thing I can recommend is persistence and copying everyone at Concorde at it. It seemed to help that everyone was kept in the loop for responses.

I do hope it gets settled.

After my phone calls & emails in December last year, I thought things were settled also! I even called the medical facility and used their automated system back in January and their system said my daughter did not have a balance??? I guess what they did was take the balance out of her name while they were awaiting payment from Concorde! I will hit the ground running in the morning and start this venture all over AGAIN!
