Hi,

Does anyone know approximately how long the actual exam lasts? If it helps, I have no issues so I won't need to discuss any problems.

Thanks.

There are two, vision/hearing and physical, typically done at different locations, so two appointments.
For my son they were less than 20 min each.

They say to allow 15 minutes for the eye exam and an hour for the physical.

Mmb5 is probably providing a good estimate. My DDs physical was at best cursory and very quick. She also had a very limited medical history.

I would think the more history to review the longer it will take. There is nothing invasive and some doctors take it more seriously than others

You will probably spend more time in the waiting room than you spend seeing the doctor. 10-15 minutes with the nurse doing height, weight, BP etc. And then you will get 15 minutes of the doctors time.

Mine lasted about 15 min for the eye exam and about 45 min for the physical, but the doctors office that was running my physical was pretty busy and short staffed.

in both cases my son booked the first appointment of the day and was in and out in 20 min

My son's eye appointment was great- arrived, was seen, easy. The Dr appt was horrible- walk in clinic, no appointments taken. We were given a total expected time (for wait and exam) of an hour and a half. It took three hours from start to finish, and then he was called to come back the next day because the Dr forgot to administer part of the exam.

It was a debacle.

Mileage definitely varies. My DS's eye appointment was routine. Getting the Medical appointment adjusted was hard because the doc ran a one-person show. We eventually got an appointment that did not conflict with other activities.

It turns out that the doc was really great. The doc chatted with DS about his goals and how motivated he was to be in the military. She reviewed the DoDMERB to ensure the right nomenclature was used so as not to cause undue red flags. As a result, other than routine orthodontia remedial form, he passed DoDMERB with no problems.

Medical appointment was about 40 minutes.

Thanks everyone. I scheduled the appointments today. They said to expect less than 30 mins for eye test and about an hour for physical. Like I said, no health record and 20/20 vision so hopefully it will be quick.
