Does the Academy superscore ACT? DS has already sent in application, and only listed scores from highest composite on one testing day. Since he has taken it several times, could he list the highest score from all test dates on each category? If so, how could he correct that? In the process of completing references, medical, interview, and other forms this week. Any help is appreciated!! Thanks!

yes, I believe they do superscore the ACT (correct me if I am wrong guys). The first thing that I would do is have your son call his admissions counselor. Mine has been a big help and answered every question I asked whenever I call him.

You send in the scores via the testing service (ie, they go to the academy officially). While they have all the scores from every test, they only consider the highest score in each segment. Calling the admissions counselor is a good idea but I believe that's the answer you'll get. Good luck! :thumb:

They take your top individual subject scores from multiple tests (if you took it multiple times). Our son was also told they double scored Math so you would want to really try hard on that section.

hearing that about the math section makes me wonder if i should send in an earlier ACT test. I've taken two

    Composite: 32
    Math: 34
    English: 31
    Science: 31
    Reading: 33

    Composite: 33
    Math: 32
    Reading: 33
    Science: 35
    English:33

I sent in the second one because it was better overall. I'm really contemplating the $10 fee to send in the first one for the extra two points in math...

The sad thing is that when you look at the even smaller break-down, it was pre-algebra that I got wrong. Isn't that just dandy?

So.... if I'm reading your post right, for a mere ten bucks you'll have a super-scored ACT breakdown of...

    Math 34
    English 33
    Science 35
    Reading 33

One thing that should be obvious: the academies are not looking at SAT/ACT composite scores as "better overall." They are looking at the individual components; thus, the super-scores.

Have you made your decision yet? (Good luck!):thumb:

I might be reading raptor wrong, but the academy looks at both the composite and the components. That is why they state if you have 24 on V you are "generally" deemed non-competitive. You will also get points for your total score too.

That being said roll anyway you want, because your composite will go up, because your ACT is now a 34.

Be sure you know your math. During BCT you take many placement exams, one of which is math. Some people do poorly on the early sections (algebra), and are placed in prealgebra as their first year math class.
