Dog tags?

    Mids aren't issued dog tags, are they?

    Why not? They used to be issued tags and most of us wore them daily, although there were a rugged few who only wore them during summer cruise.

    I'm not expressing an opinion, I just have never seen mention of them. If anything it's cool! When are they issued?

    I can only speak for Marines... we had to have them when we reported to TBS and we had to buy them. In the fleet some wore them and others didn't. It wasn't required in our unit. When we were deployed there is certain protocol depending on the theater or Commanding Officer's guidance when and where dog tags must be worn. In Iraq several years ago we had to wear two around our necks and one in our left boots.
