We were fortunate to have DS and some of his friends with us for a few days of their Spring Break. I am sure they were fine young people before going to USNA, but they have certainly matured since I-day and even PPW. Took them out to dinner one night and folks shook their hands and thanked them for wanting to serve, etc. Wish they were here longer, but Spring Break shortened for DS involved in an ECA that required late start and early return. Varsity athletes and those involved in certain ECA's will probably experience at least one shotened leave before they graduate, part of learning life in the military. The needs of the Navy are wide and varied. DS and friends took it all in stride and worked out a viable plan, rearranged travel details and adjusted on the fly. Proud of them because I know many parents who have had to "assist" when the fly got in the ointment. So, if your MID/Cadet asks to bring friends home on any break, jump on the opportunity. You will have to share your time with DS/DD but the fun and stories are priceless. :thumb:

Oh yeah, and if you are from the South, calculate a sweet tea consumption rate of about 2 gallons per hour. They just could not get enough.:shake:

Best is take a couple of MIDS out for dinner keep silent and just listen to them talk any time you are in Annapolis. Your MID will not talk to you but listening to the stories between MIDS is fun. Hate Sweet Tea.:shake:

Spring break with Cadets

I am thrilled to be hosting 6 cadets for USAFA spring break. Can't wait to sit back and listed to their stories; my son and his classmates will have just completed their Recognition training and will be with us at the beach for some much needed rest and relaxation.

I've been busy getting lots of cooking done...and will be making gallons and gallons of sweet tea!

Favorite memories of 4 years of USNA visits are taking carload(s) of Mids out for a dinner at every opportunity .....over the Army-NAVY weekend last Dec. my Mid and room-mates were all 21....that was a new experience for this Dad....we celebrated another NAVY win in great style.....including huge steaks at a great Mid-favorite steakhouse just outside Annapolis.....I always enjoy listening( and laughing) to the many conversations.....worth every penny !:thumb:
