Applicant is applying to WP, is about to get his DoDMERB physical, has taken the CFA, etc.... Nomination process does not finish until mid - late November and presumably thumbs up or down on the applicant thereafter.

Meanwhile as a second choice applying for AROTC 4 year scholarship, picked and ranked his schools, etc. Working on application now.

According to generic letter correspondence received, first review board for AROTC begins in Sept. and applicant will need to take the physical aptitude test as well as DodMERB physical. Letter also states that if awarded a scholarship, player has 30 days to accept or reject.

Questions;

Can applicant reference USMA CFA results as subsitute for physical aptitude test (applicant passed).

Can applicant reference USMA medical results as substitute for re-taking AROTC required medical?

If AROTC scholarship awarded 30+ days prior to when USMA decision is made, will scholarship award be forfeited? Example. Award in October30, USMA decision December 29. Is waiting for the USMA decision effectively penalized?

Thank you,

MDad

Uh... I used my medical from USMMA for my ROTC as well, and PHysical Test was the same as well

Nope. Candidate will have to take the AROTC fitness test. (It's easier than the CFA).

Another physical will not be needed. When USMA submits candidates name to DODMERB, they will see they have a current physical. The results will be looked at according to USMA standards (which may be different than AROTC) and any DQ will resolved separately - between USMA and AROTC. For instance, if DQ he will need two waivers, one from each.

NO the scholarship is not forfeited. He should accept the award if he has not received an offer from West Point. When he gets an offer from West Point and accepts it, he may turn back the scholarship award.

Good Luck!!

Although AROTC generally does not ask for a DODMERB until after a scholarship is awarded, you can use one from applying to USMA.

AROTC doesn't use the CFA so I don't know if those results can be used. That's a great excuse to e-mail your candidate's #1 school choice to start the dialogue. :thumb:

Yes, this recently changed. USMA will send your name to DoDMERB when they deem you 'competitive'. So they may send the name first - it just depends on who jumps first.
