I have recently gotten my RFO for iBolc through ATTRS. I thought it would come through HRC, also giving me duty location; just the school registration came in the email.
Does anyone have any idea on when I am expected to receive a post assignment?

P.S: Who ever says that the STEM programs (With ADSO backing) guaranteed branch selection, you are dead wrong!

I think if you ADSOd for a station it comes with your RFO. Otherwise, you might be waiting until BOLC. When is your school date?

I did adso for a post, it wont be granted as there are no infantry divisions there. No news of it in the RFO however. School start date is in April.

I just got mine this afternoon, well the ATTRS registration, unsure if those are the same things or not. I got mine through email on AKO, have you checked yours yet today?

I have. If you have a CAC you can view the RFO and your ORB through the HRC Tools page. The ORB shows projected assignments, so if you have one it might be on there.

Nobody said that STEM guaranteed branch selection of ANY branch. It does guarantee AD into certain branches, such as Signal, Chemical, Air Defense, Engineering, etc.

Have you looked at ATRRS to see if they made a reservation for you there?

Have no idea how to look up to see if I'm reserved for another date. Could you PM me with some instructions?

Do you think this will hold true in the coming years with all of the cuts looming? I keep telling DS about the conversations on this forum and how many are disappointed because they get reserves and/or not their requested branch. He definitely wants AD and tries to assure me that he will get it because his degree will be mechanical engineering. I warn him not to be too confident. He understands about the importance of OML and everything, but he just seems overly confident about getting AD because of his degree. Just curious as to y'all thoughts?

DS should watch the last few minutes of the 1963 Army-Navy game when his confidence is at its highest.

I don't think that's how it works. I am a computer science graduate, with an ADSO behind signal yet, did not receive the STEM bonus for signal. I got forced to branch detail without utilizing my ADSO, which was just dropped. Others in my class last year with the same major got the bonus and benefits for the degree.

As far as I remember, the STEM guarantee program worked something like this:

    1) You had to have the minimum GPA required in one of the majors listed under THAT branch. Note, different branches had different lists of majors that were approved for the program. GPA was usually 2.75+.

    2) You had to ADSO for that branch.

    3) You had to meet all other requirements.

Be aware that the program with ADSO AD guarantees for support branches was only recently changed and expanded. In these uncertain times for the military, I wouldn't count on anything staying the same. If your son is a STEM guy, the guaranteed branch ADSO would be a nice safety net, but I wouldn't have him count on it 100%. He should still strive to be the very best he can be, try to get as high of a GPA and PT score as he can. While the ADSO program will likely be around for awhile, it would be best for him to hedge his bets and get high on the OML so that he gets what he wants regardless.

This is a quote that is from the 2014 accessions powerpoint - supposedly the same as the one presented at LDAC this past summer. If you google "FY14 Branching Process CG Decision Brief - CISAT Sharepoint" and then follow the first link, you should be able to see the entire powerpoint. I can't paste the link because I don't have enough posts.

"50% of the Signal Corps (SC) branch allocations will be withheld exclusively for Cadets with degrees listed below. If the Cadet has one of these degrees, at least a 2.75 CUM GPA, and SC as their #1 preference they will receive SC and that branch and not be branch detailed. Once the 50% is filled, must compete for SC branch."

My interpretation of the quote is that 50% of the SC allocation was allotted to the special degree program. Once the 50% was filled, the branching model filled the rest.

Without looking at the slides, I think mechanical engineering is one of those majors that several branches have special rules for. You could always shoot for a less competitive branch if he's doing that poorly where he isn't going to get AD EN with an ADSO (which I think is pretty poorly, because we had one guy who was under the OML by a decent number who made it)

Here's what I don't understand about that, lower OML received signal with out being branch detailed under same circumstances as I had. I.E Meeting all requirements listed for the bonus.

i think that may have been your problem, you may have been too high on the OML, once the slots were filled to 50% by those with lower OML's that met the requirements, you were left to compete with everyone else, thus getting the detail.

DS said he will have around a 3.4 or higher at the end of this semester. His PT score is 270. And "He" says that he is at the top of his ROTC MSI class/ranking. If all continues, hopefully, he will be able to have several options for what he is seeking. I just don't like the way he claims that he will be guaranteed an AD slot. I want him to know and understand his position and what is needed for him to accomplish his goals.

Of course, DS never lacked in the self confidence department. So, he thinks "I've got this! No problem!"

    Praying it is so.
