Hey you guys. I was hoping someone can shed some light on what I'll be expecting as part of the DVP program. I leave September 23 and stay at the academy until the 28th. What clothes should I bring/what do I need?

Neat clothing... think "business casual." For young ladies: conservative skirts (i.e. no minis) and tops with sleeves. Young men: khakis (no wrinkles!), either nice no-logo polos or other shirt with collar.

They'll send you a list of other items you may need. Or give them a call.

My daughter went as a senior in the fall 2011. She wore nice tops (button downs, nice sweaters, nothing baggy or saggy or low cut) and nice jeans (dark wash, no rips or tears). She brought layers, as the weather was turning cold and they were going to the football game and doing outside stuff. Skirts were unnecessary and impractical given the weather and the activities. She wore boots that were comfortable and neat and brought an extra pair of good sneakers just in case. Bring pajamas that are long and not revealing (you will be sleeping in a squadron) and be compact in your packing. You will likely be on a cot in a freshman room and don't want to be taking up alot of space with stuff. Bring a small gift for your cadet escort, maybe something from your hometown, and even better, something edible! :) Cadets love food. Bring some cash for visiting the visitor center and C-store and possibly being part of an "element dining out". Have a great time!

I went in april. I stayed with a cadet for four days and did everything she did. I stayed in her dorm, and went with her to her classes. There's spare time so you can ask her to take you any places you want to go. You get a tour of the academy, the prep school, and the athletic facility (by the people running the dvp program). I wore sweaters and jeans. I would recommend bringing a robe for showers just as an fyi. Bring money so you can buy any apparel you may want.

Should I bring workout clothes as well? Or just jeans and sweaters?
