Did anyone else get an e-mail from their regional commander asking if they were still interested in the USMA?

They were asking to send a confirmation email that we're still interested, and they told me of my status (fully qualified).

I hope that means they forgot about me:confused:

I did not but I heard of someone who did. Can you post the email? and which RC?

I am from the Great Lakes, and I received the same email. Here it is:

(CANDIDATE'S FIRST NAME):

I have a request. If you have decided to attend another school and you know you would decline an offer of admission to West Point, please reply to this email and let me know. This would really help us out, and probably help out the applicants from your local area too. We hope West Point is the right place for you, but if you have decided otherwise, we will wish you the best.

**Most people getting this email are still definitely interested in West Point. If that is you, please reply to this email and let me know that you are still interested. We know you’ve been waiting a long time – thanks for hanging in there!

Do understand that as our deadline approaches, we are absolutely overwhelmed with questions and inquiries. This email serves as your status update and I will not be able to reply with anything further.

CURRENT STATUS: Your current status is that you are Fully Qualified and have at least one nomination, which means you are competing for admission. Out of well over 15,000 candidates for admission, less than 3,000 will make it as far as you have in the application process – well done!

OFFER TIMING: We will begin sending offers of admission in the near future and then continue to send out offers for the next couple of months. Our goal is to send out offers as quickly as possible, however, not all of them will go out at once. Some applications are still unresolved due to medical or other requirements, so we cannot make a determination regarding every slot in the class. As we are able to resolve those individual cases, we will continue to issue offers of admission on a rolling basis. We are also required to fill our class in accordance with congressional law (Title X, United States Code). Following that order can sometimes be a slow process, so you will need to be patient as we go through this process as quickly as we can. In some cases we will not be able to offer some of our best applicants until April.

NON-SELECTION: As we become certain that some candidates will not receive offers of admission, we will send them letters that inform them they are qualified but not selected. *Until they receive that letter, they are still being considered for admission.* There is not a set date that we will send those letters out – our goal is to inform applicants of their status as soon as possible so that they can make appropriate decisions about other college options.

ARMY ROTC SCHOLARSHIPS: If West Point is your first option, and your backup is an Army ROTC scholarship, and you must make a decision because of an ROTC scholarship deadline, I recommend you accept the scholarship. If you are admitted to West Point, you can then decline the scholarship and that school will be able to give the money to someone else. We have confirmed this method with many ROTC professors.

I want to commend you for making it to this point in the process. You have shown hard work, dedication, and a commitment to serving your country. We know it was not easy! You have what it takes to be an officer in the United States Army, and I hope you continue on that path, whether it is through West Point or Army ROTC.

Go Army!

Good luck in the next week, everyone... This is it - in this culmination of years of hard work, it will all pay off soon.

Do you have LOE/LOA, principal nomination, minority, or recruited athlete? I am in great lakes too and wonder why I did not receive this email.

I did receive an LOE, but I did not receive a principal nom. I am also not a minority, nor am I a recruited athlete. I am fairly certain that this email was (or will be) sent to all who are 3Q'd with a nomination. Are you 3Q'd?

I'm 3Qed with 2 noms with a LOE; haven't received this e-mail yet. Might depend on who your RC is

My RC is MAJ OHern but all my letters come from MAJ Myrthil. I have an LOE, 2 nominations, and am a minority. Also I am 3Q'd.

RC Email

Interesting email, I have read it several times, but i don't know what to think about it.

Nothing mysterious about the letter. Admissions is simply trying to avoid sending an offer to someone who has already decided to go to another school.
If you do get the letter, make sure your respond one way or the other immediately.

Budget cuts. Some of us don't get any hot water anymore in the barracks. I'm sure they don't want to send out 15,000 letters when they only need to send out 1,200.

I also recieved the same e-mail from Major O'Hern. I currently have 2 nominations (1 principal) and an LOE. My medical waiver was just granted so I'm anxiously waiting for February 26!

I dont know if I should be worried that I didnt get one, or I am just over thinking this...

These e-mails seem to have all come from Major O'Hern; if he's not your RC, I wouldn't be concerned.

It might be that you are under the minority RC, so although you are in the Great Lakes region, you don't receive emails from the Great Lakes RC but rather from the minority RC.

It has to be just from O'Hern, as he is my RC as well.

However, I did not get a LOE. Something tells me it's just because of the region.
