Eagle Scout Medal on AFROTC Uniform

Your question was a good one. The Citadel is just one example of schools that have dealt with this. My son is in AROTC, they do not allow the medal on the uniform.

Please don't be shy posting any question you have, While a few adults seem to get some weird pleasure out of ridiculing high school students, most will give you a serious answer.

Thank you. I was just curious because I have seen it before in pictures and I wasn't sure what the exact rules were. I guess it's safe to assume that it's not acceptable to wear, but in some cases it might be worn on school uniforms (like VMI, Norwich, etc...)

cpkousky.....congrats on Eagle. My son recently finished his and it was certainly not an easy road. I understand that only about 3% of scouts attain the rank of Eagle. Congrats on your perseverance. I hope you will continue with scouting , helping to lead younger scouts. (There are several programs designed to allow Eagle scouts to continue in scouting.) Best of luck to you with all of your goals!

cpkousky- the only ribbons that VMI cadets wear are DoD issued ones from active duty (and then only on the white and class uniform- never on the grey uniforms). Any one you see wearing any ribbons are prior service members. Ribbons that they were awarded in JROTC/CAP etc... aren't worn. VMI cadets don't wear any ROTC awards either- so unlike some ROTC progams where they come away fairly loaded down with a full rack of ribbons - VMI cadets don't wear them (They get awards for sure- but no ribbons on their uniforms.) I would suspect (but don't know for certain) that the same would be true of Norwich and the Citadel.

Congratulations on the Eagle Scout accomplishment- that is a big deal and one you should be proud of. :thumb:
