Early Action Admission

Trying to distinguish the difference, if any, between those who were deferred to regular admission and those who have already received scholarship offers.

I think Objee has posted here that the first CGA scholarship offers will not be tendered until February.

As long as you have not received a "rejection" letter you are not rejected.

A deferral is not a rejection!

It is simply a "not just yet, let's wait and see how you stack up when all the other applications are completed."

Some candidates who are deferred will look great when all is said and done, they will be offered full appointments.

Some who are deferred will be offered CGA scholarships (prep) to help them better prepare academically for an appointment to the next USCGA class (2014).

Some who are deferred will be put on an "alternate/waiting list." They will be selected/not selected based on the number of appointments previously offered that have been declined by May 1st.

Some who are deferred will not look so good and will be rejected.

The final decisions can come as late as the 3rd week of April. Don't give up hope until the "thin letter" arrives.

Thanks for the info. I thought the offers for scholarship went out because one person that posts stated her child had one but I went back and reread and I see her child is already in a scholar program so obviously from previous year. LOL.....yes, that is a lifetime away J Collins LOL ......and, nope, giving up is not an option. Thanks!

thanks Luigi. that is son good intel. It really good to hear the simple versions of some thing taht make no sense to us.

I haven't read all posts in all threads, but please don't get too discouraged when you receive a deferral. Last year, my Cadet received deferral letter in December from EA, then in early February received the "you're in" letter.

3rd week of April....or later

Breathe. Hang tough. Pray for good news before April. Pray even harder that if you get waitlisted that you get good news before June. (my son got his final no thank you letter on June 6th last year) It is a waiting game that is just plain stressful....but well worth it if you get the appointment. Even with our situation, a lot was gained by going through the process. Hey, how bad could it have been....after all here we go again. No EA for college applicants, so we are hoping for Jan or Feb at the earliest.

Hey just a reminder.... March is ALMOST HERE !! ! ! :yllol:
