Early Action Apps

My son did send up a new academic honor last week via email. The admissions office said they were happy to accept it, but depending on where his individual package was in the board review process, they could not guarantee that it would be considered. They way we figured, if you are not picked up for early action, at least it will be in your file when you get another look during regular admission, so it can't hurt. Good luck.

Very true!

I appreciate everyone's responses! I am coming home every lunch to check the mail for our daughter here in FL... <sigh> nothing today.... :thumb:

Our daughter got a call last night from one of the admissions partners. She was completely confused and didn't understand what he was asking her or why he was calling and thought it was a prank call for the first few minutes.

It was mass confusion in our house as I was googling his name and searching the web site to see if he was for real (he is!) and at the end of it we still don't know what it means other than high blood pressure.

These forums really do help to know that others are in the same position.

Been there, done that Suzief70. Hang in there and try not to freak out the mail carrier like I did. I guess a half-crazed looking mom, waiting by the mailbox day after day was a little unnerving for our carrier. In the end he was ok with it, but I swear for awhile he would idle at the end of the block, waiting for me to go in the house before he would approach our box. :shake:

Good luck to all who wait. For those who don't get the BFE, keep the faith. There is always the regular round of admissions. :thumb:

SAT

confused:Does admissions consider the whole package when selecting the cadres or does the SAT scores play a huge factor wheather you get in or not?My daughter has a great GPA plays travel sports and varsity. Shes also in the National Honor Society has everthing going great except her SAT scores were not that great?

If standardized scores were the only criteria, I wouldn't be so stressed; my son's ACTs were great. But if you look at the qualifications of accepted students, I think that you have to say that the academy definitely utilizes the "whole person" approach. From what I have seen on these boards, almost all of the applicants look GREAT on paper. Kids without those creds probably don't even apply, hence the competition.

SAT

Thanks for your responce this is sooo very stressful. She applied to EA2 so we have several weeks to wait it out still.

FYI, cadre refers to the 2/c cadets who will train the incoming swabs. And yes, the CGA looks at the whole picture!

We are in the same boat as Kimber37. My son is very well rounded (good grades, athletic, student government, etc.) but not the best test taker. He meets the lower ACT scores, but not by much. Hoping admissions can see past that....

Anyone "out west" get the BFE yet? If so, what carrier (USPS, UPS, FexEx, etc)?

The conditional appointments usually come in a standard #10 envelope, 1st class US Mail.

The "full" appointments come in a (Big Fat) USPS Priority Mail cardboard envelope.

They are not mailing them by "region" - appointments have been mailed nationwide, from Maine to Florida to Washington to Arizona and points in between.

USPS Priority Mail envelopes are 2-3 days from New London.

Admissions Partners are encouraged to contact applicants who have filed E.A. and offer support. Here is the exact wording from the Admissions Partners portal:
"Things to do in December: Congratulate Early Action Appointees. Offer to discuss cadet life and the officer experience. Place a news release in local media."

Could one possibly be appointed to the Scholars program from early action? Or is every EA applicant just deferred and decided upon later...?

Made a number of phone calls last night!! :thumb:

Had the people you called already been informed of their acceptance,or did you get to break the good news?

In past years, CGAS appointments have come from both EA and RA.

Both! The closer to the east coast the more that had already received notification. What was amusing is someone thinking you are prank calling  that took some explanation!

Ok, we are west coasters and as I posted our daughter got a call on Monday. But, they didn't tell her she was appointed - just talked to her about her sport. We have not rec'd anything yet in the mail, so she is now super worried. Should I suggest she call the admissions partner back and ask? Or just sit tight.
