Early action deadline

so there are some candidates who get rejected from AFA after receiving an nomination?

Absolutely. And I wouldn't say they are rejected. They are not selected. Each MOC slate will normally have 10 nominees but only 1 will receive an appointment. The rest, who are qualified, go the the national waiting list. More will be appointed from there. Overall only about half of those qualified and nominated will be admitted. At least that seems to be the stats from last year.

I got a call from my MOC. He told me my BFE is not allowed to be mailed out until the 15th of January. I should receive it by the 19th.

Anyone know what the chances of getting an appointment are if we were deffered? Not sure if that means not highly competitive or just not put in the first batch of appointments.

From my understanding, very few are selected in the EA. I'm still waiting, but you shouldn't stress. If I were you, I would compare some of your stats to USAFA class profiles... SAT/ ACT wise. I guess that's the only way to tell if you are above/ below average of entering cadets.

Still nothing updated on my DS's portal either. He checks each morning and again before bed. 4 days...

It no longer says "qualified for early action" in my portal, but I did not receive any notification from the Academy. Did this happen to anyone else?

yes. There was a thread on it. I think it had something to do with that start of the new year.

Three days!

The wait is agony. I couldn't imagine waiting another two months. Poor regular action candidates.

Most people end up getting deferred to regular selection anyways, as I did. But yes, I agree that this is agony.

Same here - was EA now deferred. Got 2 congressional noms - was feeling very optimistic, now not so much. It's brutal but I've got at least 10 backup plans lined up. But I still want #1. Praying for patience and luck to you all.

Same to you.

EA is targeted at the top .01% who would otherwise go elsewhere on a full ride to ivy-league and other top schools. It is by no means a indicator of whether you will get in or not. Chances are still very good for qualified applicants.

Thanks, I needed that:thumb:
Wishing everyone the best:smile:

By the 15th of January - (Does that mean before? or No Later Than?)

Congratulations!

You are eligible for the Air Force Academy's Early Action Program.

Early Action is designed to allow you to know your admission status sooner and therefore make more definite plans for your college career.

Here is how it works. Complete all your admissions requirements by the 1st of November and the Academy will tell you your admission status by the 15th of January.

My question is: What does "by the 15th of January" really mean?
