I was wondering if this may sound like i'm too spread out in ECAs
- 2 years STAND for Darfur (Vice-President)
- 1 year Key Club
- 2 years Student Government (Vice-President)
- Church Outreach Committee (Sophomore Representative)
- 2 years of football
- 2 years of track

What year in h.s. are you?

You won't be hurt for participating in many ECAs. However, it is important that you focus your efforts on a few, so that you can take on leadership activities in those. Note that doesn't mean you have to hold an office -- you can organize an event, expand activities, etc.

Continuity is also important -- sticking with a couple of activities for 4 yrs and being very involved in them is better than simply being a member of many ECAs. For example, you may be active in a school publication and progress from writer to editor to chief editor. Or you might be in a volunteer ECA and be responsible for organizing their major fundraiser. Or you might be active in a church group and lead the high school retreat. All sorts of options.

Then don't worry about it now. No one really expects sophomores to take on leadership roles. Consider which ECAs you really enjoy and how, over the next two years, you can become a leader in those organizations. As noted, you don't have to be an officer -- it's more important to consider what you can do. Stick with things you enjoy the most and be active in them.
