Okay, I received a kindle fire as a graduation gift. It's cool, but I'm not ecstatic about it. What is the policy on electronic devices at the af academy? Can I bring it? Am I not allowed to use it until Christmas or recognition? If I can't use it for a while, I'm considering returning it, selling it, or regifting it. So what are the policies, and what do y'all think?

There is no easy answer...its squadron specific on everything.

My son's squadron got their phones back after A-Day..later than many squads but earlier than others. He got a kindle for Christmas and was allowed to use it. Others in his squadron who already had them, were using them before that time as well but I'm fairly certain there were probably other squadrons who couldn't

Agree with Proud Mom. Use of eReaders is squadron specific. In our case, DS received his phone back on A-Day and has had it ever since. He has a Kindle and his squadron allowed him to use it throughout his first year. You will certainly not be able to use your new Kindle until after A-Day and maybe not until after Recognition. Now you may be able to use it starting sometime in between those two days but no here can tell you when.

Another thing to consider is that there really isn't Wifi in the dorms. You have your connection for your issued computer, but they tightened up everything else so routers aren't allowed, there by limiting how and when you can download items to your Kindle. This might not be an issue, things could have changed and my C1C DD may not have let me know. Just something to think about.
