Is an engineering degree required for graduation from a military academy? If so, is it just a B.S.? And does it vary from academy to academy? Thanks a lot.

No, you don't have to get an engineering degree but all the degrees are Bachelor of Science. Obviously the academies love the STEM degrees but you can still go to an academy and study economics, history, etc.

From the USNA website:

"For the Naval Academy Class of 2013 and beyond, at least 65% of those graduates commissioned into the U.S. Navy must complete academic majors in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics disciplines."

There are currently 25 majors at USNA.
