Enlisted Applicants

Thorjaleco

Hey sorry for the late response didn't see these posts. I currently am deployed right now and am working on my recommendations. It is hard from a deployed status but, I am doing all I can. I have taken the SAT once before and did not get the scores I want so when I get back I would like to retake the SAT and take the ACT for the first time. I should get back early September and will be able to do the rest fairly easy. I still have pretty much the whole application left, ( the cfa, transcripts, activities record, academic information) but I can get these recommendations out here I will have a good start. Last time I did the application I had everything done relatively fast and just could not get the COs recommendation. That sucks about your age, you should have a really good shot though especially if are already that far along. I have the same mindset as you in regards to if I fail getting accepted to USNA I will try STA-21 or other routes. I take the second class this March and my rate is pretty open so I have been studying for that, pretty much have my wings just waiting for a board and will have that done by the time I am home. Let me know when you have a response back for you nominations etc, do you know how well your COs recommendation was?

I couldn't even imagine doing this deployed. But good on you bro. My test scores are taking a while. Everything at this point is just waiting. Everyone's working on writing the recommendations letters. I have to get everything completed and ready to go before I have my CO's meeting. I have a question for you. Idk if you had the same problem. When my career counselor is filling out my academic info, it asks "what is the expectancy of students of your high school who will attend a 4-year college?" Do you know where you got those stats? and howd you do on your CFA?

Yea man it isn't easy but I just hope I can get everything in on time. I haven't taken my actual cfa yet but for the prt last cycle I got 90 push-ups 85 sit-ups and a 1010 mile and a half. So hopefully I can get the mile atleast under 645 for the cfa we will see though running really isn't my strength. I am not too worried about the basketball throw pullups or shuttle run but I will definitely practice. Also for the stats I called my teacher back from high school and he gave me a point of contact it was like my career counselor she was also the same person who gave me like my class standing for my graduating class. I would guess your high school might be the same?

Damn thats a pretty good run time. I'm starting to hit the gym more now, I gotta work on the run and the pullups but the CFA isnt my main concern. My high school has the summer off, so it kinda sucks. They said if I can't find it to just submit an estimate? I guess ill just do that. I'm thinking about taking the ACT's next month. Still waiting on scores from the SAT's. Are you applying for any other nominations besides secnav?

Just FYI, the slowest time that you can run and pass the PRT as a MIDN is 10:29. Most people run somewhere in the 9's.

Yeah I looked up the instruction. 1030 is barely passing for 1.5 mi .. The pushups and situps are the same about 90 to max out. That run though..

Any enlisted applicants out there who have already been accepted to NAPS or direct? I was told I would know by April 1st but have yet to hear anything. Did you all get a letter or did your CO tell you? What if you don't get in, how did they tell you then?
V22CrewChief, my son is an enlisted Marine, he received a direct appointment back in January. He received his LOA through his CO and his BFE came to him directly.
