Massachusetts offers, thru the National Guard enlisted, the ability to go to any in state school with no tuition. While talking with a recruiting officer, he mentioned going through ROTC in addition. Has anyone heard of this pairing? Any pros/cons of doing just ROTC instead? I am also applying to the USAFA, so would I have to enlist after I hear from the Academy? Or would acceptance into the service academy be grounds for contract termination?

You should definitely verify that being enlisted in the NG does not negatively impact your ability to qualify for the AFA. In Illinois, there is a sort of dual enrollment program. One of DS's classmates enlisted ArmyNG but will be going through ROTC while in school. The benefit is as you mentioned in Illinois...tuition covered already, regardless of ROTC scholarships. On the other hand, if I remember correctly, the enlisted NGer could be called up to serve while in school for the NG. If you've already spoken with a NG recruiter, I would go ahead and cross check that with the ROO at a nearby college so you can get each side of the story. Remember, they are recruiting for different purposes.
