I'm not sure if this is a silly question or not, but service academy appointees still have to fill out a FAFSA, correct? I have a sister in college and she is about to update hers, so I was wondering about mine. Thank you in advance!

ClimberGirl, you do not have to fill out FAFSA for USMA, but you may or should fill it out for your plan B if it is required. You do not know the future, and although you may have an appointment to your dream SA, what do you do if you get a medical turn back during your basic training, or if you get there and decide it's not what you thought? Just some things to think about before you burn that bridge.

Agree with FalconsRock, fill it out just in case, you have an appointment but things can still happen.

Fill it out. Strange things happen (like injuries/sickness). Read about it or hear about it every year. Cover yourself just in case.

Are you allowed to use FAFSA while at the Academy?
You should look at what FAFSA is for. It does not apply to SAs in any way shape or form.

Per the other comments - it is wise to complete should Plan B become a necessity

If your question is 'can scholarship $s be used at SA's?' it is dependent on the scholarship and what parameters they have place on use of those funds

Are you allowed to use FAFSA while at the Academy?
No exactly sure what you mean, but if you receive money from your FAFSA application, you cannot use it at the Academy. However, if you receive a third party scholarship, say from the Boy or Girl Scouts, you can use that.
