DS recieved a falcon scholarship for 2014/2015 school year. I was just wondering when USAFA usually gives the "Falcons" appointments? DS recieved an MOC nomination (not primary, MOC sends a list of ten and lets USAFA rack), all his paperwork is complete, and his grades were good for first semester. Do they wait for second semester quarter grades? We have been on this roller coaster ride for so long I am sure when it slows down I will catch my second wind! This forum has been a daily stop for me for information and encouragement. TIA

My DD was a Falcon and received her appointment in Feb. That was in 2013.

What kind of kids generally get accepted to the Falcon Program? Is it like the Prep school, which takes kids who need a little more help academically, or is it just for people who were qualified for USAFA, but because of the competition weren't accepted?

Generally this one. You technically have to be academically qualified for the Academy to get a FF scholarship, there were a lot of kids my year with pretty high SAT/ACT scores, good grades, and solid applications...it's more of just not being at the top of the appointee list.

I was a Falcon scholar 2012. I received my appointment in the end of April. They waited until almost all of our grades were in to make sure none of us failed any classes. Hope that helps!
