I know Army Nat'l Guard Federal Tuition Assistance was suspended in 2013, was it ever re-instated? If so was it just for enlisted?

I've searched but cannot find anything regarding the re-instatement of it.

    QA,

Don't know the answer to your specific question, sorry.

But you do know that at the state level, there are some pretty awesome tuition programs available through the Guard. In many states, tuition is 100% covered at state schools for example. Not sure if any of that applies to you, but for my DS the state programs were better than the FTA program.

Yes, we know about the state levels and that each state varies. Our state covers 100% of tuition but on the website says you have to apply for federal TA first.

I was just curious if it still existed.

One thing about the State Level TA is that some state's NG are now requiring the cadet to commission into the Guard if they accept the State Level TA. This is something cadets need to research very well before accepting any TA.

We are going to sit down over Christmas breaks and discuss the future. Last I asked him he was still wanting to try for active duty after he gets his degree in a couple of years (ECP cadet).

If he stays in state after graduating this year from a MJC everything is paid for thru state TA and his Ike Skelton scholarship and he can try for active duty.

However his girlfriend is attending the Air Force academy next year so now Colorado has come into play. It is my understanding the only benefit he will get from their guard is in state tuition prices. He will still have his Ike Skelton money that will cover tuition but he will need to come up with living expenses.

To me it's a no brainer. But my hormones are not involved.

I think common since will win out but getting to that point might be a little rough.

DS is an MSII at CU Boulder holler if you have any questions. Also UCCS in Colorado Springs just received the MacArther award for one of the top 10 units in the country. CU Boulder is INSANELY expensive for housing but UCCS is MUCh better on that front.

Thanks, never knew about UCCS. He was actually looking at CSU Pueblo, but UCCS looks to be a just a little cheaper. I will present this to him also.
