Everyone wants gift ideas for my daughter...have been researching threads. A friend asked if there were any good hair salons/ spas within walking privileges as she thought a gift certificate for haircuts/facials/manicure might be appreciated....are there services like this within walking privileges? The boodle packages that are offered by the local establishments.....how are they? Are some better than others? Most of the suggested gift ideas Leatherman, watch, etc we have already purchased. I know $ is always appreciated but many friends and family would like to give her things that would will make her time more bearable and pleasant. Female cadets and parents of females.....what made a difference? What gift cards were considered an "outstanding" gift? Really at a loss at what to tell people besides things like shoe polish, duct tape and moleskin!

After beast the girls like to shop online. They love Victoria's secret.
There is a hair salon in Thayer. don't know if they have gift certificates or not.
Pedicure is better than manicure. Her first year, it will be really hard for her to get out.
Also magazines. anything "girly" will do.
Even if your daughter is tomboyish now - just wait. She will probably get more "girlie". There is something about military school that brings it out. lol.

I have ordered goodies from Cadets,Cakes & Cookies several times and my son says they are very good. If you order in the morning, she can usually get the boodle delivered the same day, unless it is a special order.

Colt 45, interesting idea....though will wait till she gets some experience with firearms.:biggrin: a friendly game of Lazer tag is the extent of her experience.

Actually a Glock Model 30 (also 45ACP) is better suited for many women -- smaller frame is a better fit!

Yeah, but they're not really suited for commemorative engraved presentations.

Carving plastic doesn't seem to be a good idea.

    Curious about something menial...

Can you subscribe to a magazine while at West Point? I'm sure it is possible, technically, but as a plebe I don't want to get any extra attention or step on anyone's toes. However, I did think that we have our own personal mailbox, so maybe it's not a big deal.

After Beast no one will check your mail, so a magazine subscription is not going to draw any attention. I will tell you that, going by the cadets I have known, you will probably end up with a stack of unread magazines. As a plebe you are not likely to have the time to enjoy a magazine subscription...

Luigi -- you have a point, but for pure functionality you can't beat it! :)

I have small hands and always liked the .45 better than 9 because .45 rounds stacked one on top of the other with no offset. The 9 always felt llike I was aiming a can of coke.:shake:

Agree on the Netflix! Though depending on your company you may not be able to use it right away. When we visited WP at Plebe Parent Weekend in March, we happened to go by the post boxes in the barracks. There were two slots for mail drop-off: One was for "off-post" and the other was "on-post and Netflix".:shake:

A gift card to Ranger Joe's would be welcome by cadets of either gender. My daughter often ordered products from this site and even asked for gifts from here.

For the female cadet who wants a nice alternative to Victoria's Secret, Soma also offers gift cards

This is just plain fun. It can go into a boodle box that you send from home. New appointees will enjoy this until R-Day.

Lots of fun items here. Especially loved the caffeine products.

Once you start sending boodle, Fairytale Brownies used to give a discount to any delivery to any of the service academies. The discount code was USFTB. You might want to call as I'm not sure if this is still the code.
