Not sure if any other units are seeing this but I was very pleased to see of names I am sure are female there are 12 out of 23 of DS's year at AUM. There are another 3 that could be female but not sure.

NROTC enterprise-wide is seeing an increase in the number of incoming female scholarship midshipmen, both Navy and Marine option. Our unit is running 30% female, whereas the Navy is about 20%.

My daughter has at least 5, maybe 6 females in her freshman class, the sixth name could go either way, and that is out of 17. For all years, there are 22 out of 65, so about a third female. That is for U of Portland AROTC. She will know for sure tomorrow as her orientation starts!

Two years ago when my daughter started NROTC, she had more women than men in her class!

This is a great trend to see much which might be attributed to the opening up of jobs to Female soldiers and sailors which means also more senior officer options for females. With combat positions blocked off there was a huge amount of female soldiers that could only get so far before finding no options to advance.

I love the University of Wyoming! My daughter is a Senior, and, at this point, she wants to go to either UW or UM in Missoula. She won't be doing ROTC. She's hoping to get a WUE slot.

My DS NROTC orientation class had 6 female out of a total class of 30. Consistent with @NavyNOLA national average of 20%.

Not sure the total number of incoming females at Wheaton--numbers we're hearing seem to be very fluid and from what I understand most of the dropouts occur the first two weeks--but it seems to be about 1/4 of the class. DD is the only one trying out for Ranger Challenge though. She said the guys in RC were cool to her until she demonstrated she could hang with the workouts--as it should be in my opinion, male or female--but they're warming up to her now and have been encouraging. The commanding cadet for all of her battalion's RC is a female, so she has a path to follow.

My DD is also trying for RC. She is the only female freshman interested, and she is not sure if there are even any other freshman trying, it will come clear at 0600 on Labor Day when it starts! Good luck to your daughter!

Same to yours! It says a lot that they would try out even if they are the only ones.

Many girls passed through my AFROTC class at one time or another, but I was the only one (class size 10) that commissioned this year. My det had a lower percentage of females than usual I think, at least as we hit junior and senior years, but probably because we were at an engineering school, and the percentage of females in engineering AND ROTC is quite low. It is interesting to see the difference in numbers in different detachments.

Same here. I go to a big engineering school too and out of around 40 POC every year we average about 3-5 females. Females usually make up around 1/3 of the underclassmen, give or take a few, but few continue or make it through past the 2nd year.

At VMI 506 new rats Matriculated last Saturday, of which 60 are females. My DD is one of them.

Of the 14 who have dropped so far during Hell Week, none were females :)
