This is an excerpt from another post.

"It said that fewer candidates declined than usual and they could not offer him an appointment."

I believe I read somewhere that there were already fewer offers of appointment than usual so how will this all play out?

I think it was something like 1437 offers of appointment for 1200 slots.

Will everyone who accepted the offer of appointment still be slotted?

I can understand if they are disqualified for some compelling reason, e.g. behavior, academic failure etc? But as of today, most appointees have already locked in their schedules.

I was wondering if any of the BGOs could provide some guidance...

I have never heard of a situation where someone who had accepted an appointment subsquently had it rescinded other than for medical, conduct, etc.

What it does likely mean is that those on the wait list have a smaller likelihood of being offered an appointment.
