While at SLE all the candidates are interviewed. I think they were told this would qualify as their field force interview but I'm not positive. Does anyone know? If not, how does the candidate set this up?
    Thanks

Yes, it does. Is it a requirement for an appointment? No. Why? There are many applicants from coast to coast who don't get the opportunity to attend SLE or have a FFR in there area. If you do have a FFR in your area, I would encourage you to reach out and make contact. Establish ties, they can be very beneficial to monitor your progress and give you guidance. Also, do try and make contact with your RC. You probably will not get the same personalized attention as your FFR but at least they will know your name. Please, continue to visit SAF and ask questions.

Agreed with Tug Boat on making contact with your RC and FFR. Also - you are going to have question - lots and lots of questions! The RC and the FFR are absolutely the best source for answers! Not that we are not willing to offer our thoughts or weigh in on this forum! LOL!

The interview at SLE is the same at the interview by a FFR. An interview is not an requirement, but some Regional commanders like an interview done by FFR even if there is an interview done at SEL for competitive candidates. Although same questions are asked, FFRs tend to be better judge of characters than cadets leadership at SLE. A good example is a SLE squad leader, with no prior military service, stating that the candidate will not make a good Army officer vs an retired LTC stating the same candidate will make a good Army officer.

As mentioned by MemberLG, (and a credible source of information here on SAF), FFRs do have experience. However, depends on your area, they can be a parent who is a member of a WP Club who has guided many to success. Overall, they do have best of intention to help you find success. Then there is SAF to turn to for help.
