How does playing on a spring intercollegiate sport team such as baseball or softball effect a cadet's ability to participate in Field Training Prep activities at their detachment?

Ask your cadre. That's the only place you'll get a definitive answer. You may get anecdotal evidence here one way or the other, or both. But your cadre would have the final say in your particular circumstance. A lot might have to do with how prepared they think you already are and no one here can answer that question.

+1 to kinnem.

This is a det by det issue. There are poster here saying their det does a FT weekend, and will be doing it next weekend. I don't recall DS's det doing that at all.

Our experience is that both Cadre and Coaches have been flexible with regards to schedules. However, in AROTC, they DO want all contracted cadets present for FTX (one in the fall and one in the spring). Generally, coaches are OK with that. And if participation in FTX is required as part of your Military Science Course, the coach MUST release you from any and all conflicts per NCAA rules if it (FTX) cannot be rescheduled (which IS the case).
