First Board Results

So if I emailed him and all he said was "Like I said,I can't tell you if you have an offer." does that mean I don't have one or that there's a possibility I might get one? Sorry, I didn't learn about ROTC scholarships until this year and decided a week before the first board that I was going to apply, so I'm still learning the ropes. Somehow I managed to complete everything and get boarded, and everyone has been really helpful teaching me about everything!

My DS applied for the first board, although our understanding is that usually only cream of the crop, ie highest test scores and GPA students earn those. DS's act is 23 and GPA 3.6.

I am happy to report that he received a four year offer to his top schools today!! So my advice is to strive for the best academics, leadership and athletics, but don't give up and presume you don't have what it takes! Reach for your dreams! He was advised today that it was an honor to be chosen for the first round, and we certainly do realize that.

Also, Clarkson was right (of course) about the big fat check being presented in person, it's not a hoax as someone suggested. DS will be hearing from a local battalion in the next week or so to set up that date.

Thanks to everyone on here that I have talked to over many years, Clarkson, jcleppe, payitforward, you guy are awesome. This forum has been amazing!

If you didn't get picked on the first board, it does NOT mean you are out of the game. There are three board dates.
Also, if you did not get chosen after all three boards, you can STILL attend a college as a non-scholarship AROTC cadet for the first two years and possibly qualify for a 2 or 3 year campus-based Army ROTC scholarship.

Yeah I was aware that you get transferred to the next board, but I've seen other people saying that Clarkson told them they weren't getting an offer and I was wondering if that's what he said to them or was it something else? I didn't understand if he told me that I didn't get one or if he just can't tell me if I did. Confusing, sorry.

Igarmy, I also asked him and he said the same thing. I believe that since he did not say "You are not being offered one" or something along those lines that we may be getting one. He can't tell us if we are, so thats all he can say. Hope that helps.

It is an honor to be chosen during the first selection board. I believe the selection rate is around 25% or less.

Thank you HH6, that is what my son was told today! It's extremely exciting!

If Clarkson Army doesn't reply... does that mean we were awarded a scholarship?

Clarkson told also me that "Like I said, I can't tell you if you have an offer". Does this mean he's suggesting I got one? For anyone who Clarkson told did not get an offer-what did his email to you say? Thanks

That is exactly what Clarkson told my son, and he got a scholarship!

He will tell you one of two things.

1. "No you did not receive an offer this board"

2. "I can't tell you if you have an offer"

If he tells you #2 then I would guess that good new will be coming your way.

Clarkson emailed that info yesterday morning, then yesterday afternoon, he got an email from Bowling Green State University, where he had his interview, asking him to call them. He called there this am and they told him he got it! Good luck to you!

Was that university one of his top choices? All of my top choices were out of state and over 24 hours away, so we went to the closest ROTC Batallion to have my interview, so I'm just wondering should I expect a call (if I were to get one) from one of my top choices or my interview location? Thanks!

BGSU is his second choice, 2 hours away. First choice 9 hours away. He called his first choice yesterday, after hearing from Clarkson, and they told him if he got it, he should expect a call from a local battalion. And still another battalion is supposed to be calling to set up a time to present the award.
I would guess you will get a call from a more local battalion.

Jcleppe...you are so smart...

I've been trying to be as helpful as I can without breaking rules...and I think I've gotten back to everyone who has contacted me within 12 hours....I've done the best I can, especially since no one who has emailed me yet has had one of my schools on their list. To be honest I don't mind doing it, because I get a little insight into who is proactive, who's on the SA board, and what their stats look like.

Even those of you who have offers still have a long way to go...remember that.

Absolutely Clarkson. What lies ahead kicked in immediately after he told us he got it. We decided to celebrate today, and hurry up and wait for the next phase, ie Dodmerb, etc.

Thanks again Clarkson for all your help. My son actually received a call from the ROO of his #1 school yesterday to inform him that he received a 4-year scholarship to their school as well as a couple of other schools. He did not tell him what the other schools were, and told my son that the official paperwork should be to us within a few days.
