First wave of BFE's?

Yes, happens all the time. If you have an LOA or are the highest in your district. One nom is all anyone is required to have...the rest is up to you--sort of. =)
From what I understand, being the highest in your district wouldn't = and appointment if you all you have is a presidential nomination; being the highest in your district only matters for MOC nominations. I don't think you can win your MOC slate if you don't have an MOC nomination.

My DS got a phone call and the BFE in the mail today. NJ 07. Didn't have an LOA, just an LOE. Wasn't expecting this at all today. Makes the snowstorm a lot easier to weather!

Congrats NJ Dad to you and your DS. We should get together and compare notes.

Sure!

I'm from NJ, District 3.
So I applied to all service academies but sought USAFA for my congressional nominations. This is because I didn't get into USNA's summer program and actually got denied SLE for WP but ended up being pulled of the waitlist minute. I thought USAFA was my best shot at first.
I had presidential nominations to USAFA, USNA, USMA. I got into USNA in October on the presidential and USMA today on the presidential. So far, I know I have Senator Menendez's nomination to USAFA.
I also applied for the ROTC programs. So far I have the following four year scholarship:
Villanova (AF), Cornell (Navy), and Princeton and William and Mary (Army). I'm waiting to hear back if I got into the schools.

Some stats:
Academic:
Act 31: English and Reading= 34; Math and Science=28 [I took it twice and super scored]
SAT: 2120
15/328 in high school

Wow! It seems like we are the same person... I thought I was reading my resume haha. All the ROTC scholarships, clubs, community service, etc. Also, I have been an American Legion Oratorical contest state semifinalist for the last three years! And, Coca Cola scholars finalists are being announced next week, are you as excited as I am? Daughters of the Amerixan Revolution Good Citizen was a fun application as well. Did you apply for the Elks Outstanding Student award? I'll see you on R-Day! PM me if you want to chat more :)

Sons actual bfe came in mail today. He's at work so I'm bringing him lunch and will give it to him in a few minutes. It won't be a suprise, since he got word earlier in the week, but I'm sure he will be excited to actually see it. This is cool stuff.

USMA sure does a fantastic job of presenting the offer of appointment. Looks better than what I recieved for my undergraduate degree. It's beautiful. When I handed the envelope to my son during his lunch break at work he grinned from ear to ear.

Would love to see a photo!!

I was just going to post it unopened, but I can't figure out how to post a pick

Brings back wonderful memories of 2 years ago today when my son received his appointment in the mail. What a whirlwind of upcoming events, before you know it you will be at R Day events. Start working on pulling all those documents together, lot of check offs. And congrats to all parents, I hope you enjoy the adventure as much as this mom has.

DS got call from MOC congratulating him on his appointment but no portal update, no BFE yet. Should we be worried?

My son received the call as well, although the message was a little confused because he was also accepted to another academy, so his mom was stalking the mail every day. I would think he will receive the appointment soon. Do you live in the blizzard zone?

No. Go chill everyone out and wait for the BFE , which will be coming directly.

No, not in northeast but thinking that may delay BFE.

This is a little bit off topic, but a week ago I got a call from my congressman saying that I was receiving a nomination from him and that I should be hearing from West Point in a few days, should I be worried I haven't heard or seen any change on my portal.
