I was wondering if the scores received on the PFT and AFT contribute to a running cumulative grade for your fitness. It seems like only the latest scores would count because that would indicate how fit the cadet is at the current moment. Also, are the AFT and PFT done on the same day, or how much time is between them? Lastly, how much of an impact does the fitness score play in the order of merit and the career of an officer? When applying to grad schools, will only the academic GPA be considered, or does USAFA report the GPA factoring in fitness and military?

    Thanks!

There is an overal Physical Education Average or PEA which is the culmination of every PE class, PFT and AFT taken where these events contribute 35%, 50% and 15% respectively.

The PFT and AFT will take place within the same week time frame or so with a weekend in between. You might take the PFT on a thursday morning and then the AFT the following tuesday morning.

I'm not sure what exact weight PEA has on the order of merit, but it is definitely worth the least.

The Academy might sign off on you to apply to grad schools based on your Order of Merit, but the actual grad school application probably won't care about your PEA class standing. You could report just your GPA/GPA class standing.

Remember, the AFA signs off for you to apply to grad school on scholarship, the grad school is the one who decides if they want to give you a scholarship and accept you into their program (unless you attend AFIT for grad school, then it's a little different).

I think PEA is 10%. Academics are 60%, Military is 30%.

The PEA is cumulative, and that is what probation is based off of. Merit lists are based on semester PEA.

Your PEA is 50% PFT, 35% Physical Education courses, 15% AFT.
