My son is finishing his on line application. A couple of questions he has:

    1. once the on line submission is done, by when should he complete the fitness test before he is ready to be considered in time for the first selection board meeting?

    2. Once the on line submission is done, other than the test scores and transcripts, and evidence of activities, what other "supporting" materials are required before he is ready to schedule an interview.

By the way, I take it that the evidence sheet is sent to my son once the on line submission is done.

    3. For that matter, do they only let you schedule an interview once all the supporting materials are in? Or can he have an interview with a PMS before all the supporting materials arrive?

None of this is obvious on the web. He got, from cadet command, phone numbers of the ROTC scholarship application advisors, but they are useless since they NEVER answer the phone or return the calls when messages are left.

Any help from those who went through this process will be greatly appreciated.

I dont remember everything from when I applied, and I never had to do a evidence sheet, but I believe that you would want the fitness test done before the interview. I have heard of some people having to take the fitness test at the interview, and that was something I wanted to avoid.

Also, the most helpful people during this process is the PMS from a top choice school. In my experience they have the answers and are very quick to respond.

I will work under the assumption that this is for AROTC.

First, no application is scored until all of the required items have been submitted (online application, test score verification, transcripts, APFT, interview notes). So the answer to question 1 is all materials should be in at least 3 weeks prior to the first board to be considered. This gives CC time to enter the data and mark the file as complete and prepare it for scoring.

As to question 2 and 3, you will get an authorization for a PMS interview with instructions shortly after you complete the online part of the application. If you have the basic qualifications it is automatic.

My son just finished his Army ROTC interview yesterday,
(and he was told he maxed it :thumb:)

He was told that his ACT, HS transcript, PT test and Hepatitis blood test,
needed to be in by this Friday.

All of this has been Faxed and emailed repeatably to AROTC,
so he emailed it to the interviewing PMS (as a PDF) to forward to AROTC.

He was also told to update his online app with current info and college choices.
And to make certain that all appropriate boxes were checked in extra curricular activities.

He did the PT test w/his track coach, that is the presidential test (1 mile run 1 min sit-ups and 1 min push-ups)
If he had gone to the PMS for a PT test that would be the Army PT (2 mile run 2 min sit-ups and 2 min push-ups)
He felt he would look better on the presidential PT test.

    Hope that helped.

    AMEN

I actually took my PFT a couple weeks after my PMS interview.
I think you can schedule the PMS interview after the basic application is submitted. You don't need to have everything in.
I took a change of clothes so that if the PMS did want me to take the test I would be ready, but he never asked. I guess it just depends on the school.

GoJack, your son had to turn in a Hepatitis Test as part of his packet??

PMS requested it, where it is going I do not know.

BTW: He is a regular blood donor, blood center supplied a letter
declaring him free of almost every known blood-borne disease.
    Free of charge.
