Can I go to the academy if I have flat feet?

I have flat feet. As long as you can run fine and aren't bothered by them, there is absolutely nothing that will prevent you from going to USAFA.

DS is a 2016er and has fleet feet and wears non-prescriptive orthodics. He had no problem getting DoDMERB qualified. However, it depends on your feet. We were told that certain "bad" cases of flat feet can result in being DQed. Prior to submitting his DoDMERB paperwork, we spoke with a podiatrist who did DoD exams and he provided us with wording that DS submitted on his DoDMERB app,

I asked about this when I visited DODMERB last year (I had a candidate with this issue) and was told: "It will depend upon the individual; it's a case-by-case basis."

So don't give up hope, don't think the worst: PRESS ON!!!! :thumb:

I'm a candidate this year and I've had issues with my feet (I'm flat-footed and my ankles like to overpronate) so I just bought some shoes with extra padding for cross country when my feet started hurting. I cleared the DODMERB with no problem.

My son never was diagnosed with flat feet but wears orthotic inserts which he really likes. We bought some for gym shoes and his boots. They are allowed during BCT and really helps the feet!
