Just came in from work--heard there may be a flooding situation at USNA---any news would be appreciated. DD is going up in the am to see DS. Wondering about travel-sat liberty etc.

It's been raining cats and dogs for 3 days now. When a hurricane came through two years ago during Plebe year, the Mids stood "sandbag watches," either filling or placing sandbags along the seawall to prevent damage to various buildings.

Today 2/C daughter didn't mention changes in liberty or having "sandbag watch," but things can change rapidly. Based on 2 years ago, individual Mids didn't have more than ~1 hour additional watch. The biggest concern (IMO) is for driving conditions for your DD (water buildup on roadways & hydroplaning).

High tide tonight (right now) will be dangerous .....Firsties had been warned to move their personal vehicles away from the seawalls....debris and waves of water are flooding the yard....My Mid says there's a very good chance classes will be delayed or possibly cancelled for Friday due to the many impassable and dangerous roads thru-out Annapolis area.

Keep in mind that those pictures were from 2003. What a mess that must have been. I hope it doesn't get that bad this time. Wonder how many mids are already gone to Colorado Springs and can't move their car.

Ok - I am confused. We hit the link, thought we were seeing photos from YESTERDAY. Then 2012mom says they are from 2003. I go back to the link and the photos taken out of Bancroft window are 2007. At any rate, they are NOT current. So, the point of posting on this thread......????

We are wondering how it is going. I think most mids that are coming to Colorado Springs for the game are traveling later today. Hope ours can swim to the BWI!

FYI, local weather stated USNA received 9.02 inches of rain yesterday. Pax River over 13 inches. Maryland Eastern Shore got hammered!

All dry now. Yesterday afternoon and evening, there was the usual flood-and-sandbag routine on Dock St., affecting Storm Brothers Ice Cream and the other establishments. You will notice most businesses on that street either have brick or concrete floors. I'm sure all the usual low spots at USNA were flooded, with storm drains backed up at high tide.

Daughter and friend are on Potomac highway 30 mins out-she says it looks ok still no word from DS. Wait -wait wait---man this is going to be a long four years semper gumby indeed.

driving

Our DD just drove to DC and back with no problems!

All are safe and together ---waters were not a problem--go figure. DD and friend toured Academy waiting and said all was fine a little soggy but fine.
