Watching the AF/Navy game last weekend and towards the end of the game Navy was given a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct (something like that anyway). Question... does that penalty get translated into any type of reprimand by the academy? Did that player violate any code of honor/conduct? (Sorry if terminology isn't correct.) Just curious.

Don't know but Teich is not playing this weekend. He was accused of walking off the field before the singing of the USAFA alm mater.

Of course not! If that were true, a fake handoff (a deliberate attempt to deceive) would be an "honor offense."

That's not to say a player cannot get into trouble for violating a team or school rule. But the sports field has its own set of rules with its own set of penalties. The two are completely separate.

As to the original post... not normally. Unsportsmanlike penalties, red cards, techincal fouls, etc for violations along the lines of bad sportsmanship are almost never dealt with as conduct violations at the Academy. I can only remember one or two times it was so severe it was then dealt with as a conduct infraction. I think those times dealt with actual fights on the field, court, etc.

Sounds like Teich is being taught a lesson by the Coach, not necessarily the leadership on the uniformed side of the Academy. Trust me, what he is facing right now being benched and away from the team is way worse than any 30 day restriction he could face. I like the move by Coach Niamatalolo, he believes in the values and goals of the Academy and is reinforcing them to his players. Trust me it sucks to lose to a Service Academy rival, but his conduct was out line, if he indeed walk out during their Alma Mater. Hopefully it is a learning lesson for him and we can see him return to the field next week.

The rumor in Bancroft yesterday is that words were exchanged Tuesday at practice and it escalated to the point that Coach Ken suspended him for a game.
