Hello everyone, I am currently a candidate for the USNA and I am wondering if I am in the ball bark with stats. Anyone who has been accepted or given an LOA, if you don't mind sharing, what are your test scores, class rank, EC's, and ect. like? Thanks for sharing with me, I would just like to see if I'm going to be competitive.

DS has the following:

USMA LOE: Y (Oct 1st)
USNA LOA: (November 15th)
File 100% Completed: Y
ACT : ACT 31 (32 super score)
Honor Society: Y
President/VP Sr : Y
Recruited athlete: N
Varsity Athlete and Letters: Y (6)
Varsity Team Captain: Y (2)
GPA: 4.00 U / 4.45 W
Class Rank: 1/252
Community Service: 200 hours
Principals Leadership Council
Rotary Student of the Month

Hope this helps.

If you share some of yours it will be easier to judge. You do need to have very high stats to get an LOA though.

Just a few quick things about me. I have also taken the ACT to try and up my CR score up (maybe it will help a little). Also for anyone posting, if you see any area where I can improve my resume let me know!!!!

Besides that CR score you look great in every aspect, just keep working on the standardized tests and they will come up. My stats were similar (besides CR) and I received an LOA and appointment, I think you have a very good shot.

LOA from USNA, LOE from USMA
Academic:
35 ACT superscore (34 math 34 english 36 reading 34 science)
2090 SAT (730 CR, 660 M) (will take again, this was my first try)
222 PSAT (77 CR, 68 M) (National Merit Semifinalist)
4.2 W GPA 3.7 UW GPA
School technically does not rank, but I would put myself between 20th-40th place out of 530
4 AP's this past year, and 4 this year

Athletic
3 years JV Swimming (so far)
2 years JV Water Polo
1 year V Water Polo (so far)
5x Gold Scholar Athlete
1x Silver Scholar Athlete

Extracurricular
member of school outdoor leadership program ( 26 picked by teachers out of c/o 530)
member of and volunteer with National Honor Society
math tutor with Mu Alpha Theta
JV Basketball Manager
Varsity Basketball Manager
Volunteer with disabled children.

Also attended 2013 Summer Leaders Experience at West Point, but was not selected for NASS.

A lot of this is going to depend on how competitive your district is.

BDHuff09 -- do you know what your USNA LOA is for -- are you a recruited athlete, academics, QNS last year, diversity? Your stats are very similar to my DS's -- he also has an LOE for USMA and attended SLE '13. Just wondering what else USNA would consider to make his application stand out.

ca2midwestmom,

I don't know for certain what my LOA is "for", but if I had to guess I would say academics. I am not particularly diverse in any sense of the word, and while I intend to try out for the Club Water Polo if I eventually get an appointment, I have not been recruited for either of the sports I play in high school. I am also a HS senior and a first time applicant.

I copied and pasted this stat list from one in August so it is not 100% indicative of my current stats. I was named co-captain of my HS varsity swim team and elected Vice President of the Math Tutoring club which I previously mentioned. I had my counselor email these updates to USNA and I feel that this gave me a large amount of points in the "Leadership" section of the application.

Also, I had my counselor verify that I was in fact officially a National Merit Semifinalist, and I paid to have my AP test scores sent to USNA. I know they are not required, but I got some advice that they would help strengthen my file (I have scored five 5's and one 4 so far, with a 5 in Calc AB and a 4 in Chem). Supposedly this helped indicate my preparedness for USNA's academic courseload.

My CFA was okay. I maxed out push-ups and sit-ups and did well above average on pull-ups (15). My run and BB throw were around average, and my shuttle run wasn't very good.

The fact that my state (MO) is only middle-of-the-road regarding competitiveness probably helped too.

I also had everything but the BGO interview in before the end of September. The physical interview was done by then, but my BGO did not submit it until mid October, and I got a call around the beginning of November stating I was to be given an LOA.

Thanks for responding BDHuff09. The timeline and stats are about the same, except his CFA was submitted in November -- you have a few different ECs from DS, he has a few ECs that you didn't list. We're actually in a neighboring state. Guess we just sit back and wait....

Nstok., what kind of classes have you taken/are you taking?

I have taken every AP class my schools offers, being AP Calc, AP Chem, AP Bio, AP US History, AP Euro, and AP Lit (i have only taken regular physics because my schools offers no higher level physics class for whatever reason).
