Foreign Flag Ships and Hired Protective Services

Our ds is heading out on a Bermuda flag ship shortly, on a LGN ship, for the British Gas Group. Does anyone know if there are hired protective services for such ships while in pirated areas? I cannot imagine them being ON this ship due to the liquified natural gas. Nor do I think there'd be any Navy for protection. Thanks for any info!

DS sailed on a Belgian flagged LNG ship last winter. He never mentioned any additional security.
