Frayed Nerves and Urinary Incontenance

Question: How soon is appropriate in contacting the CGO for a debrief since their determination of his strengths and weaknesses will be very important in making a final collegiate decision.
Answer: By mid-May both Class of 2011 and NASS should be pretty well wrapped up.

My advice would be to take the ROTC option at VATECH. I didn't realize it at the time, but when I took the ROTC scholarship while reapplying, I was given the option of getting another nomination from my unit's CO, and increasing my chances. That, and NROTC was an awesome experience.

It'll also show USNA that he's "dedicated to a career of naval service." As long as he gets As and Bs in college and a good reccommendation from the CO, his chances should be pretty damn good.

On your note of only 60 coming from other colleges, consider this. Of the 21 freshman in my NROTC unit last year, 13 of us had applied and been unsuccessful at securing an appointment to USNA. Of those 13, I was the only one who decided to reapply. My explanation for the number being so low is that kids go to colleges and perhaps do the ROTC route, and end up not wanting to leave. Everyone thought I was determined to the point of lunacy for spending a year in (relative) paradise at UW, only to give it up for plebedom.

Whatever your son decides, I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
