Friday appointments

2019mom...congrats on the appointments to CGA and WP! What wonderful position to be in.

A word of caution on the visit to CGA. The tenor and mood of the corps will very likely not be what it usually is. The loss of two cadets over the break has affected the entire CGA community. I hope your son is able to get a feel for what CGA is normally like. On the other hand, he will certainly see just how supportive this little community is...
 
Congrats to everyone receiving appointments today! I am anxiously waiting myself. To those of you receiving calls from your nominator telling you that you have been appointed, is the appointment in your portal yet? I am very tempted to call my service academy coordinator just to check in.
Goodluck to all of you still waiting! On the bright side, the answer has to come eventually

I recieved the news from my MOC yesterday and it has not yet updated on my portal. I don't know how long it usually takes but I'm guessing by Monday my appointment will be visible.
 
Crickets and bomb threats here in OH. DS's school has been evacuated due to a bomb threat and possibly something located? Yikes not the kind of excitement I was hoping for today. At least everyone is out and safe.
 
Just saw MOC-VA 5 (our district) appointment received by different lucky DS (congrats!). So we have this straight... Can someone confirm, Our DS now would only have a shot at National Pool???

Depends on how many noms your DS got and whether or not that particular had more than 1 opening. If you say you can verify that all MOC slots have been taken, then yes, National Pool -- where ~50% of the appointees come from. Don't lose hope!
 
DS just got a personal call from our Sen. Warner (VA) congratulating him on his acceptance. Very happy, it was his first choice (2nd being Navy and 3rd West Point but only got nominations to Air Force). We have yet to see it posted in portal, but senator said he gets advanced notifications.
His 4th choice after 3 academies was VA Tech, its in state for us and he got Type 2 AFROTC scholarship. He is motivated to serve so applied to all 3 scholarships.
Probably will go with Air Force (better opportunity but no college life as a drawback), very grateful for the opportunity, to our senator and to the air Air Force. Wants to have a career as a combat rescue officer in Air Force, or try for a pilot pilot if not enough slots awarded for rescue. Good luck to everyone here.
 
My DS2 received a phone call from the Senator's office notifying him of his appointment. We are beyond thrilled, as this is his second attempt at a slot! His older brother DS1 is in the class of 2017, so now I will have two DS's there. My DS2 decided to attend Northwestern Preparatory School as a free agent and I can't say enough about the program there! We are blessed and grateful here in WV!!
 
No official word yet...I chewed my mom out when she called me today. I said "Momma, you gotta stop calling! You're giving me a heart attack every time!"

I hate to go to work knowing MOC might call.... I'd hate to miss it!
 
Great Friday the 13th news for my DD....email from Sen Burr's office notifying her of an appointment to USAFA. Very happy to finally get some closure on where she will be attending school. She had 4 nominations so we're thrilled the good news about appointments finally made its way to NC. Portal updates early next week. Good luck to all!

DS also got a phone call on Friday the 13th from senator who nominated him. This was his second attempt also. Last year applied too late for congressional nomination. And ended up no nomination at all. Went to 4 year institution on AFROTC scholarship. Large Detachment. Took advantage of all opportunities while there. Reapplied and now an appointment! If you really want it, DO NOT GIVE UP!

Thank you so much!!! No word from USAFA yet! Still waiting and jumping every time the phone rings, lol! But WP is Plan B and I am very honored that they accepted me! So...still waiting over here, but it's all the sudden a LOT easier, lol!

Congratulations! I remember how terrible it was waiting each day, so hopefully this takes a bit of pressure off your shoulders as you wait on USAFA. Now lets get some good news from Colorado so you can get a "Friends don't let friends go to West Point" shirt from the C-Store later this year.
