Hello! My DS is a candidate for the USNA Class of 2017. I am embarrassed to admit I have been stalking this site since last June, but just now got the courage to post; I am not a social media guru. For the record, DS does not look at the forums; he would rather stay focused on keeping up with all his activities. I have relayed to him what I have read and he has used his own judgment whether to take the advice or not. His Dad and I are very proud of him for doing the majority of the application process on his own, except for our help with some of the DoDMERB remedial requirements.

I want to thank everyone who posts on the site for their advice, insight, comments and suggestions. We are not a military family so a lot of the terminology, etc. is unfamiliar to us. Reading other candidates’ experiences helped us navigate the “DoDMERB maze” which turned out to be the most difficult part of the application process (besides the waiting!)

We also have a VERY knowledgeable BGO who encouraged DS to get his application in early and has been very supportive.

Here is a summary of our journey:
• 8/24/12- USNA application complete
• 9/6/12---LOA received!!!
• 9/12/12- DoDMERB DQ letter received :frown:
• 10/25/12- Nomination from Senator received!!!
• 11/9/12- Waiver process initiated by USNA
• 12/19/12- Received invite to CVW via email
• 12/19/12- More remedials requested
• 1/9/13- Final remedial documentation submitted by physician
• 1/30/13- Waiver approval letter received!!!!
• 2/7-2/9/13 - Attending CVW at USNA (leaving tomorrow!)

Are we correct in assuming that since he has completed the conditions of his LOA (nomination and Medical clearance) he should be receiving an offer of appointment any time now? We are trying not to be overly excited.
Thank you again for all the good advice. Hopefully there will be a BFE in the mail soon!

I am in the same boat, I received my LOA back in December, and since conmpleted the requirements (nomination, medical waiver). I sent the admissions office an email reguarding the matter.

Here was their response:

"Ryan,

Since you received a conditional offer and have since passed
the medical and nomination qualifications you will be
receiving a fully qualified offer by the end of February,
2013. "

I hope this helped! Good Luck!

P.S. You may message me if you have any other questions, I may be able to help out.

Relax, you're in. We went thru a similar process. We received the LOA on 12/17 and it guarantees an appointment if we passed the medical. We received our medical waiver on 1/9 and our appointment on 1/18. We actually got a call from our MOC, as they are notified first. The BFE didn't come for more than a week after we got the call somewhere around the 27th.

Congrats and where are you from?

Thank you all for the encouraging words. We haven't wanted to take anything for granted in this process. It's good to know others have been through a similar experience.

We live in Texas. DS's flight left VERY EARLY this morning for his CVW. He attended NASS last June (and loved it!) so he has been there before. Although in his mind he has no doubts this is what he wants, we wanted him to visit one more time during the actual school year.

He has remained cool and calm through the whole process; dad and I have been totally stressed knowing how disappointed he would be if the waiver was not approved. And afraid he might let other opportunities slip by waiting on news from USNA. Looks like good news should be on its way! Thanks again!
