Now THAT was a tough and agonizing wait.

DS application status had been stalled at HOLD for what seemed an eternity.
It changed yesterday to "Principal". Had to refresh the portal several times yesterday and today just to make sure my wife and I were not dreaming.

We still can't believe it. His dream of going to the USMMA has become a reality.

A FedEx package has arrived already (not hard as we live in NJ) and now waiting for him to open it. We will finally breathe again when we get to see the actual appointment.

I signed up at the Facebook page for the Class of 2017 and waiting to be added to the group. Been lurking here for over a year.

Now where is that bubble wrap everyone keeps talking about?

Congrautlations - and Welcome

Congratulations to your son!!! I know what you mean about the agonizing wait.
When we finally got "the" phone call - I felt like I was finally breathing again after holding my breath for about 3 months. Glad you have good news - join us on the facebook parents 2017 page. There is a lot of good people there and very helpful information there like there is here.

Thank you 17TexasMom.

I just got approved to the Facebook group.
Looking forward to learning all I can about this great life experience.

He got a FedEx package today with the official appointment letter.

How long does it usually take to get the BFE with all the info about what to do next?

No "LoggingIn2017" yet

So far there has not been the document that gives us all the information. But you can go to the USMMA web site and on the bottom of the page is a link that says " Reporting Instructions". It delivers the link to the 2016 LoggingIn pdf.
It is a "good read" that will get you ready for what's coming.
But the short list is:
1) wisdom teeth
2) Passport
3) TWIC card
4) vaccinations

Good luck and I hope to see you July 2 - as we drop them off. Send me a PM with your name and such if you will.

Congratulations and Welcome to the KP family! Continue taking advantage of reading comments written by our wise ones and asking them questions. They've been so helpful to us during our 3.5 yrs. I couldn't have made it without the forum and some of the PM's (private messages) from supportive strangers too.
I've written this next info on another thread, but think it's well worth repeating:

Default Read Reporting Instructions
http://www.usmma.edu/admissions/reporting-instructions

These instructions are found at the very bottom of the home page
www.usmma.edu in the gray area, beginning of the second line.

Get on reading the reporting instructions ASAP. TAKE CARE OF THE TWIC AND PASSPORT IMMEDIATELY (pages 8-9)

Most important!!!-> get going on your Medical and Dental stuff (Vaccinations, wisdom teeth and dental work, etc pages 27-30), Physical fitnees program (pg 31-36), check out exemption credit (pg 37), and follow everything on pg 38 to a T.

Get going on getting your TWIC IMMEDIATELY. It takes time to get an appointment to apply for a TWIC, then it takes time to to get the TWIC back at the place you had your initial appointment. Some people have to travel hundreds of miles for them.

Passport's the same thing.

Oh yeh...everything else is equally important, but the TWIC and Passport are time consuming.
Good luck!

Congrats!! Do you mind sharing how long your son was on hold? I am constantly checking the portal :)

DD received her Fedex today and was quite surprised. Status went from hold to principal. She already had USCGA and USMA acceptance and this just ads to the options that she has.......

At least several months since it was last updated to show he got a nomination.
Felt like years.

Keep checking. I read somewhere that by April 1, most should know.

I checked the portal early Tuesday morning and it still showed Hold. Wife checked again in early afternoon of same day and it showed Principal.

April 1 is Monday. Is this a key date? My DS is still on "HOLD" and is checking portal every day. We have not seen much activity this past week in terms of appointments. How long can the "Hold" status remain? Is there a drop dead date?

Congrats! An exciting ride awaits, keep arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times.

Definitely read up on '16 logging in info, but know that there are change every year. There is a revised curriculum coming for '17 as well. Bottom line read all you can, expect the unexpected.

The letter we received said we should hear something by April 16th.

A principle candidate must send back a signed acceptance of his/her "orders", by 5/1. After that date, KP will begin going to hold candidates. Last year's hold letter said, "You can be appointed as late as one week before indoc". That certainly stinks, but it's a reality.

I've been told that currently the class has just been filled according to all State Quotas and that they could make more offers after the medical deadline (16 April) and then 1 May if they fall below based on declinations or those offered who do not respond.
