I was wondering whether or not anyone had any knowledge regarding how a gap year has in the past effected applications. If one applies senior year, gets in, and then chooses a gap year, how likely are they to be readmitted for the following year?

And if they apply during gap year, without a previous application, does that have an effect on chances?

The gap year that I've been considering is one in Jordan, so I'm not sure on whether or not that would have a more positive impact than others, considering its in the Middle East.

I wasn't sure if no one knew the answer or just didn't see this thread but I figured I'd bump it. Does a gap year hurt your application? If you are accepted and then choose to take a gap year, are you likely to get accepted again?

I don't know about taking a year off before actually I attending but I do know that a fair amount of people attend for 2 years then leave for a religious pilgrimage then reapply and come back to finish the other 2. As long as they left in good standing, they get accepted again most of the time. I have talked to three cadets with somewhat similar situations to this (one left for a pilgrimage he knew he wouldn't be able to do once he committed, the other left because she wasn't sure if she was ready so she went home and worked for a year then reapplied and said she had thought about it and realized it was what she wanted). A third cadet (a cow in Beast) I talked to left this year and will reapply in 2 years to enter with my class when we are cows.

Once again, I really don't know about your specific situation but since nobody else has been able to answer I figured I'd offer a few examples that were somewhat related. If you plan on taking a gap year, I suggest doing it after attending for 2 years because it shows the academy you definitely have what it takes to graduate. Taking one before attending won't really show them that.
