Girls: do they cut your hair on Induction Day?

Okay one more question....hair in the front must be above jawline and in the back no longer than the collar? :shake:

Hair cannot go below top edge of collar - and you have to allow for having a cover (hat) on, which will squash it down and push the cut edges lower. Hence, the jawline cut on I-Day, which ensures it's well above the collar top and won't need cutting for a couple of weeks. It's just an ugly time, but the guys get completely buzzed, so this is the women's equivalent plebe treatment.

You will figure out how to manage the growing out period by talking to upperclass women, especially the youngsters, who will have just been through that phase.

And, you will be sharing a sink and shower with other women in the room with just a few minutes to do things, so the luxury of "puffing and fluffing" will be non-existent. Learn to do everything fast - shower, hair, dress - figure out the basics, dispense with the extras, and work on your interpersonal skills for high-stress times!

For those who have very curly hair (namely my daughters and wife), they chime in to say DO NOT CUT IT! Keep it long and bring or buy the cheapest, strongest hair gel on the planet to keep the frizz of Annapolis away. :thumb: Their preferred method was to manage everything at night for the next day...hey, what do I know????

Thank You Captain MJ.

USNABGO1982- After the I day cut, are they no longer allowed to cut it?? Meaning I could grow it out from that day on? Or do they repeatedly cut it during plebe summer?
Also would it be better to have permed hair or straight hair in the military? Know this is a strange question..but I need advice:D

Cupcake -- go to the USNA website or the USNA Facebook page (maybe even YouTube) and look for photos/videos taken over Plebe Summer. You will see lots of females and their haircuts. Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words, and you will better understand what you will be dealing with regarding the hair length regulations.

It can be extremely hot and humid in Annapolis in July and August, and you will be spending a LOT of time outside. The last thing you will want to deal with is sweaty hair on the back of your neck.

A girl from a neighboring town, in what I thought was a classy move, had her hair cut short to I-Day regulations and donated her hair to Locks of Love. Not that I have any particular dog in the hunt, but I would encourage any prospective female mids to do likewise before reporting.

:thumb: Just saw this old post. Coincidentally, DD did exactly this last week and donated 4 long pigtails. She is hoping to join the Midshipman Action Group and see if they can organize a donation arrangement for I-Day in the coming years.
